My Grandad and Dad had both been Truck and Bus drivers, they both told me to go for bus and not Truck 😮😮😮😮 So from me being a child all I’ve ever wanted to do is drive trucks however it didn’t turn out that way to start with. So as I near my 1st full year as an HGV driver in a couple of weeks did I do the right thing? #hgv #trucking #tramping #distribution #maritimetransport #44tonnearmy So life on the road living in a truck isn't that bad at all, it can have some pressures on family life but my wife and boys understand and support me all the way. Start times can vary depending on where you are and where you have to be but very very rare do you start after 7am. If im honest if i get the chance to stop in a services or one of our depots i would choose a depot anytime mainly due to safety and facilities. Depending where you park you can purchase food vouchers worth £10 these will generally cost you around £2-£3 so its worth it just so you can get a nice Breakfast before you hit the road. It could be very expensive if you constantly eat at services, by doing this it saves me money and makes sure im eating correctly instead of fast food all the time.

In the winter months this is no issue, we have night heaters that we can control and even set on timers for them to come on or go off, its nice to wake up in a morning open the curtains to a frosty ground and you are toastie warm.Īs for eating my wonderful wife always makes extra at home and boxes me meals up, these are then frozen and put in my freezer in the truck on Monday morning.

My truck is fitted with a Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, loads of storage and a nice comfortable bed.Īs you can imagine i can spend anything from 50Hrs + a week in the truck so its nice that you can have some home comforts, mine i have carpets fitted that i had made, ive a nice bed set and a photo of my family. I get asked by many what its like living in my truck?
